WAKE UP AND READ
Please help promote the love of reading by donating any gently used or new books to the Wake Up and Read Program for elementary age students K-5th.
Books can be dropped off in boxes located in the main office of both Lineberry and Currin.
Collection dates: January 20th – February 6th

It takes heart to be a hero
All Grades Participate
Grades 6-10 raise money for the American Heart Association through the Jump Rope for Heart event. Collection envelopes are in Mrs. Loftin’s office or from Mrs. Stearns.
All grades can wear a red shirt with uniform bottoms and shoes on February 13th. The grade that collects the most money and earn an extended lunch on February 20th.
Set up an online account to make donating easy! www.heart.org/jump and send emails for friends and family to donate. All collection envelopes are due to Mrs. Stearns by Friday, February 13th.
ATTENTION 6 & 7 GRADERS
Marbles STEM Play Corps is a wonderful way for your students who love science and love working with younger children to develop their leadership skills, learn about STEM, and gain valuable experience volunteering. We would love your help in promoting the STEM Play Corps to your current 6th and 7th grade students.
This program is free for participants. Applications open January 30 and close March 2. Here’s a link to the website: http://www.marbleskidsmuseum.org/STEMplaycorps This year’s corps has logged an incredible 1000 volunteer hours since June!
The next roller skate party at United Skate on Trawick Road will be on Friday February 6th.
ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is hiring high school students (at least 16 years old on their first day of employment) as assistants for the GSK Science in the Summer program.

The deadline is March 1, 2015. Students should not wait until the last minute due to our new online application process. Teachers also MUST provide an unsealed reference/recommendation letter to the applicant due to the new online system.
We need to fill up to 30-40 positions for sites in 9 surrounding counties (Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Harnett, Johnston, Orange, and Wake) with their respective high school students. For questions, please contact me directly.
